Whaley-Watkins

Leslie Rose Whaley and James Roy Watkins were united in marriage Oct. 12, 2002, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, Mo. The Rev. John Harth performed the ceremony. Organist was Betty Vandeven of Chaffee, aunt of the bride. Vocalists were Melissa Judd of Scott City and Doug Moore of Kelso, Mo.

The bride is the daughter of Paul and Dorothy Brown of Jackson and Larry and Anna Whaley of Cape Girardeau. Don and Linda Watkins of Oran are parents of the groom.

Matron of honor was Gretchen Lindsey of Salem, Mo., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Angela Selzer of Jackson; Laura Watkins of Kelso, sister-in-law of the groom; Sally Houck of Jackson; Dana Whaley of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bride; and Crystal Parks of Morley, Mo., sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Brandi Watkins of Kelso, niece of the groom.

Don Watkins of Kelso served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Darin Watkins of Benton, Mo., brother of the groom; Jason Mott of Madison, Tenn., cousin of the bride; Ben Harrell of Chaffee, cousin of the groom; Dan Raines of Kelso; and Darrin Whaley of Henderson, Ky., cousin of the bride. Junior groomsman was Christopher Metcalf of Las Vegas, Nev., nephew of the groom. Ushers were John Brown of Creve Coeur, Mo., brother of the bride, and Jeff Parks of Morley, brother-in-law of the groom.

Miniature bride was Lindsey Parks, daughter of Jeff and Crystal Parks and niece of the groom. Miniature groom was Logan Watkins, son of Don and Laura Watkins and nephew of the groom.

Flower girl was Desiree Watkins, daughter of Darin and Kim Watkins and niece of the groom. Ringbearer was Dustin Parks, son of Jeff and Crystal Parks and nephew of the groom.

Candlelighters were Phillip Whaley of Jackson, cousin of the bride, and Dian Metcalf of Las Vegas, sister of the groom.

Renee Burnett of Chaffee, cousin of the bride, attended the guest book.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at the VFW Hall in Chaffee. Servers were Amanda Mott, cousin of the bride; Marilyn Mott, aunt of the bride; and Jean Mitchem, aunt of the groom.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Oct. 11 at Delmonico's in Jackson.

Mrs. Watkins is a graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 2000. She is a computer instructor at Metro Business College in Cape Girardeau.

The groom is a graduate of Oran High School. He is a carpenter with Interior Plus Inc. in Scott City.

After a wedding trip to Caesars Pocono Resorts in Pennsylvania, the couple resides in Jackson.
