SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Eisleben Lutheran Church was the setting Oct. 7, 2000, for the wedding of Jennifer Annette Roth and Roderic Shawn Spies. The Rev. Barry Pfanstiel performed the double ring ceremony. Lector was the Rev. Ralph Duffner. Organist was Judy Aufdenberg, aunt and godmother of the bride. Soloist was Connie Aufdenberg, cousin of the bride.
Parents of the bride are Franklin and Annette Roth of Scott City. The groom is the son of Ray and Nancy Spies of Cape Girardeau, and the late Rosetta Spies.
Sarah Roth of Scott City was her sister's maid of honor. Matron of honor was Cristie Mah of St. Louis. Bridesmaids were Heather Knaebel of Columbia, Mo., and Amy Aufdenberg of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bride.
Best man was Raymond Spies of Chaffee, Mo., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Scott VanGennip of Advance, Mo., brother-in-law of the groom; Brian Roth of DeSoto, Ill., brother of the bride; and Ritchie Spies of Burfordville, Mo., brother of the groom.
Candlelighters were Christa Spies of Chaffee, niece and godchild of the groom, and Autumn VanGennip of Advance, niece of the groom.
Flower girl was Jeannette Spies of Chaffee, niece of the groom. Ringbearer was Tyler Haney of Rockview, Mo., nephew and godchild of the groom.
Jennifer Prey of Jefferson City, Mo., attended the guest book. Program attendants were Cody VanGennip, Michael Spies and Tyler Haney, nephews of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Mrs. Spies is a graduate of Scott City High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in medical technology from Southeast Missouri State University. She is a medical technologist at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
The groom is a graduate of Chaffee High School. He is a cell technician at Dana Corp. in Cape Girardeau.
After a wedding trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, the couple resides in Scott City.
