JACKSON, Mo. -- Amy Elizabeth Hume and Garrett Shawn Sparks were united in marriage March 25, 2000, at First General Baptist Church in Jackson. The Rev. Steve Battiste performed the double ring ceremony. Pianist was Susan Lane, and soloist was Shelley Sparks, sister-in-law of the groom.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Hume and Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Sparks, all of Jackson.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father.

Maid and matron of honor were Julie Hume of Murphysboro, Ill., and Laurie Christenson of Gillette, Wyo., respectively, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amber Sparks, sister of the groom; Heidi Hume, sister-in-law of the bride; Andrea Brown, all of Jackson; and Jessica Miller of Nashville, Tenn.

Eric Hinkebein of Jackson served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Sparks of Marble Hill, brother of the groom; Pat and Scott Hume of Jackson, brothers of the bride; Jon Shellhorn and Eric Parrish of Kansas City, Mo. Junior groomsman was Landon Hume of Jackson, nephew of the bride.

Flower girl was BreeAnna Crites, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Sparks and niece of the groom. Ringbearers were Clark and Blaine Christenson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Christenson of Gillette and nephews of the bride.

Janet Hume of Jackson and Cheryl Gelsheimer of Cape Girardeau attended the guest book. Gift attendant was Amy Hume, sister-in-law of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner March 24 in the church fellowship hall, with 40 guests attending.

Mrs. Sparks is a 1994 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy from St. Louis University in 1998. She is a pediatric occupational therapist at United Cerebral Palsy in St. Joseph, Mo.

The groom is a 1995 graduate of Jackson High School. He is pursuing a degree in dentistry at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and the Smoky Mountains, the couple is residing in Platte City, Mo.
