CHAFFEE, Mo. -- St. Ambrose Catholic Church was the setting May 20, 2000, for the wedding of Kelly Renae Dirnberger and Ritchie Lee Spies. The Rev. Ralph Duffner performed the double ring ceremony. Organist was Hope Essner of Kelso, Mo., and vocalist was Sarah Whistler of Cape Girardeau.
The bride is the daughter of Ron and Charlotte Dirnberger of Chaffee. The groom is the son of Ray and Nancy Spies of Cape Girardeau, and the late Rosetta Spies.
Jennifer T. Landewee of Chaffee, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Sanders of Chaffee, Christina Smith of Scott City, Mo., Sheba Bednar of Shrewsbury, Mo., and Sarah Gaines of Oran, Mo.
Best man was Donnie Pobst of Chaffee. Groomsmen were Daniel Pepple of Coralville, Iowa; Raymond Spies and Shawn Spies of Chaffee, brothers of the groom; and Ryan Dirnberger of Chaffee, brother of the bride. Ushers were Andy Horrell of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., cousin of the bride; Steven Milz and Doug Nordin of Chaffee; and Jeff Heath of Portageville, Mo.
Flower girl was Janette Spies, daughter of Raymond and Nancy Spies and niece of the groom. Ringbearer was Tyler Haney, son of Allen and Rosalie Haney of Chaffee and nephew of the groom.
Candlelighters were Christa Spies of Chaffee and Autumn VanGennip of Advance, Mo., nieces of the groom.
Guest book attendants were Rosalie Haney, sister of the groom, and Laura Hinkebein, cousin of the bride, both of Chaffee. Programs were handed out by Katherine Hinkebein and Courtney Thiele, cousins of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the reception, dinner and dance was held at Knights of Columbus Hall in Scott City.
The bride and groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at Chaffee Nutrition Center.
Mrs. Spies is a graduate of Chaffee High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998. She is employed by Beussink, Hey, and Roe, P.C., in Cape Girardeau.
The groom is a graduate of Chaffee High School. He is employed by MidAmerica Hotels Corp. in Cape Girardeau.
After a Caribbean cruise, the couple resides in rural Jackson.
