WHITEWATER -- Lana Jean Cook and Sidney Don Atkins were married Oct. 16, 1999, at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. The Revs. Joseph Payne and Tom Zych performed the double ring ceremony. Organist was Linda Thompson of Jackson, and string music was presented by Trio Girardeaux. Vocalists were Sandy Borgman of Washington, Mo., and Andy Stallings of North Little Rock, Ark. Reader was Annie Smith of San Antonio, Texas.
Parents of the couple are Larry and Janet Cook of Whitewater, and Jack and Bernice Atkins of Chaffee.
Nikki Jines of Bloomfield was matron of honor, and maid of honor was Diane Bogle of St. Louis. Bridesmaids were Leigh Denbow, cousin of the bride; Amanda Horrell and Kerrie Swain, all of Chaffee.
The groom chose his uncle, Gregg Ourth, as best man. Groomsmen were Billy Sullivan, Brian Ourth, uncle of the groom, both of Chaffee, Bobby Sullivan of Sikeston, and Michael Umfleet of Scott City. Ushers were Paul Wilson of Millersville, W.D. Cook of Chaffee, Bill Cook of Delta, uncles of the bride; and Ronnie Senciboy Jr. of Kelso.
Candlelighters were Sara Atkins, sister of the groom, and Bethany Seyer, cousin of the groom, both of Chaffee.
Flower girls were Tori Ourth of Cape Girardeau, Brooke Seyer of Chaffee, cousins of the groom; and Katherine Wilson of Millersville, cousin of the bride.
Laura Russom and Lachelle Cook of Chaffee, cousins of the bride, attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, a reception, dinner and dance was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson. Servers were Chien Dennis of Whitewater; Debby Cook of Chaffee, Susan Wilson of Millersville and Hazel Short of Jackson, aunts of the bride; Rebecca Seyer of Chaffee, aunt of the groom; Mary Bolin of Dexter; and Candace Wooten of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the groom.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Oct. 15 at High Street Station's Brick Garden, with 50 guests attending.
Mrs. Atkins is a 1993 graduate of Delta High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in 1997 and a master's degree in communication disorders in 1999 from Southeast Missouri State University. She is a speech-language pathologist at Scott County Central School District.
The groom is a 1990 graduate of Chaffee High School. He is pursuing a degree in family and consumer science education at Southeast University. He is self-employed.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Chaffee.
