Layne Alicia Strattman and Thomas Shadley Burner were united in marriage June 16, 2007, at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Patrick Nwokoye performed the ceremony. Organist was Leann Hendrix. Soloists were Brad Bohannon, Liesl Schoenberger, Geoff Seyer and Emily Sikes, accompanied by Paul Pierce.
Parents of the couple are Larry and Carol Strattman of Cape Girardeau, and Cliff and Karen Burner of Bernie, Mo.
Matron of honor was Sasha Grojean of Gordonville, sister of the bride. Maid of honor was Angela Prost of Perryville, Mo., cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Griffith and Teri Carr of Cape Girardeau.
Adam Appleton of Bernie was best man. Groomsmen were Josh LaMouria of Millersville, Brandon Machen of Bernie, and Adam Spratt of Nashville, Tenn.
Candlelighters were Jessica Rosen of St. Louis and Summer Mason of Bernie, cousin of the groom.
Flower girl was Maddie Strattman. Ringbearer was Cole Mason. Maddie is the daughter of Scott and Nikki Strattman of St. Louis and niece of the bride. Cole is the son of Sean and Summer Mason and cousin of the groom.
The reception was held at Deerfield Lodge.
The rehearsal dinner was held June 15 at Deerfield Lodge.
Mrs. Burner is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006. She is a resource teacher at Shawnee Elementary North in Grand Tower, Ill.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Bernie High School. He received a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Southeast in 2006, and is pursuing a master's degree in higher education administration at Southeast. He is coordinator of marketing for the Alumni Association and the University Foundation at Southeast.
After a cruise to the Bahamas, the couple resides in Cape Girardeau.
