Sarah Taylor Ruggles and Avery Thomas Kohm were married Aug. 13, 2005, by the Quadalupe River at the home of Bronson and Karen Evans in Hunt, Texas. The Rev. Bill Blackburn performed the sunset ceremony. Soloist was Libby Evans, accompanied by a string quartet.
Parents of the couple are Hugh and Susie Ruggles of Kerrville, Texas, and Tom and Susie Kohm of Jackson.
Maid of honor was Libby Evans. Bridesmaids were Bee McCrosky, Jennifer Slaughter, Jessica Heinley and Hannah Kohm, both sisters of the groom.
The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Mac Ruggles, brother of the bride; Chris and Patrick Kohm, brothers of the groom; and Jeremy Heinley, brother-in-law of the groom.
Flower girls were Cora English, cousin of the groom, and Shayla Slaughter, daughter of Jennifer Slaughter. Ringbearers were Zavier Heinley, nephew of the groom, and Chris Slaughter, son of Jennifer Slaughter.
The dinner and dance reception was held at the Evans home.
Mrs. Kohm received a bachelor's degree in business studies from the University of Mississippi in 2003. She is a second year law student at the University of Houston, and a first year graduate student at Bauer College of Business. She is a law clerk with Fleming and Associates.
The groom received a bachelor's degree in risk and insurance management from the University of Mississippi. He is a workers compensation claims adjuster with F.A. Richards and Associates.
After a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple resides in Houston.
