Katie Christine Porter and Ryan Andrew Schaal were married Aug. 4, 2012, at Centenary United Methodist Church. Dave Schaal, uncle of the groom, performed the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Don and Chris Porter of Cape Girardeau, and Bob and Angie Schaal of Columbia, Mo.
Maid of honor was Emma Porter of Cape Girardeau, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Erica Schaal of Denver, Colo., and Kari Schaal of Columbia, sisters of the groom; Meagan Freeze of Des Moines, Iowa, and Megan Fjellanger of St. Louis.
Ryan Birks of Independence, Mo., was best man. Groomsmen were Josh Wright and Tony Turley of Columbia, and Seth Owens of Marshfield, Mo.
The reception was held at Bavarian Halle in Jackson.
Mrs. Schaal is a 2004 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007, and a doctorate in physical therapy from the university in 2011. She is a physical therapist at Cooper County Outpatient Therapy and Sports Medicine in Boonville, Mo.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. He received a bachelor of health sciences degree from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, and a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2011. He is a physical therapist at Missouri Orthopedic Institute in Columbia.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple is residing in Columbia.
