Traci Lynn Pedtke and John David Mayfield were married June 16, 2001, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in DuBois, Ill. Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo performed the ceremony. Pianist was Donna Piotrowski of Tamaroa, Ill., cousin of the bride; trumpeter was Robert Giles of Cape Girardeau; and vocalist was Dr. Jeanine Wagner of Carbondale, Ill.
Readers were Bonnie Langenfeld of Centralia, Ill., godmother of the bride; Rick Heuring of Gordonville, Mo., godfather of the groom; Molly and Emily Messmer, cousins of the groom. Mass servers were Abbigale Messmer, cousin of the groom, and Nick Vetro, brother of the groom. The offertory was presented by Patricia Grasso, aunt of the groom, and Theresa Messmer, cousin of the groom.
Parents of the bride are Eugene and Jeanette Pedtke of DuBois. The groom is the son of John and Rita Mayfield of Cape Girardeau and Nick and Susan Vetro of St. Joseph, Mo.
Maid of honor was Amy Pedtke of DuBois, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Melissa Bryant of Kansas City, Mo., sister of the groom; Lacey Langenfeld of Centralia, cousin of the bride; Joanie Edmundson of Cape Girardeau; and Suzanne Malawy of Carbondale.
Nicholas Panneri of St. Louis was best man. Groomsmen were Ryan Mueller; William Thorpe; Darren and Karl Heuring, cousins of the groom; and Eric Mayfield, brother of the groom. Ushers were Kristopher McConnell, Garret Spinks, and Blake Heuring, cousin of the groom.
Flower girl was Lindsey LeGrand of Chaffee, Mo., cousin of the groom. Ringbearer was Trent Horton of Belleville, Ill.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dance was held at Nashville Legion Hall in Nashville, Ill.
The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner June 15 at Traveler's Fine Dining Restaurant in DuBois.
Mrs. Mayfield is a graduate of Nashville Community High School. She received a bachelor's degree in biology from Southeast Missouri State University.
The groom is a graduate of Central High School. He received a bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology from Southeast University. He is pursuing a doctorate in plant molecular and cellular biology from the University of Florida.
The couple resides in Gainesville, Fla.
