JACKSON, Mo. -- First General Baptist Church was the setting April 21, 2001, for the wedding of Amanda Nichole Johnston and Robert Gene Davis. The Rev. Luther Rhodes performed the double ring ceremony.
Zachery Shane and Joyce Ann Johnston of Jackson are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Judy Oberts of Cape Girardeau and Jimmy Davis of Sandoval, Ill.
Matron of honor was Lindsey Tingle of Cape Girardeau. Bridesmaids were Carrie Scott of Charlotte, N.C., and Laurie Davis of Jackson, cousins of the bride; Melissa Kimes of Jackson, cousin of the groom; and Ralina Glenn of Cape Girardeau. Junior bridesmaids were Amanda Kimes, cousin of the groom, and Christian Johnson, cousin of the bride, both of Jackson.
The groom chose Jon Dillingham of Cape Girardeau as best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Seyer of Old Appleton; Billy Woodall of Jackson, cousin of the groom; Dereck Johnston of Oak Ridge, Mo., brother of the bride; and James Thompson of Jackson. Ushers were Tim Biggerstaff of Cape Girardeau; Ryan Davis, cousin of the bride, and Daniel Woodall, cousin of the groom, both of Jackson.
Candlelighters were Brenda Davis and Theresa Oberts, sisters of the groom, and Emily Kimes, cousin of the groom, all of Cape Girardeau.
Flower girl was Brooke Davis, daughter of Ryan and Laurie Davis and cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Matthew Gore, son of Brenda Davis of Cape Girardeau and nephew of the groom.
Carrie Johnston, sister-in-law of the bride, attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Elks Lodge. Servers were Alice Woodall of Cape Girardeau, aunt of the groom, and Sandy Livingston of Advance, Mo., aunt of the bride.
The bride's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner April 20 in the church fellowship hall.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Jackson High School. She is employed by Check Please Payday Advance.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Jackson High School. He is serving in the U.S. Army.
The couple will reside in Ft. Lewis, Wash.
