Gaines - Young

ORAN, Mo. -- Sarah Renee Gaines and Aaron Holmon Young were married April 25, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park, Missouri. The Rev. John Harth of Jackson performed the double ring ceremony. Organist was Nathan Jackson of Valley Park, and vocalists were Ashley Giammanco of St. Louis and Jerry Kemp of Valley Park.

The bride is the daughter of John and Debbie Gaines of Oran. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Emma Gaines of Oran, and the late Vernon and Anita Hinkebein of Chaffee, Missouri. The groom is the son of Grant and Sibyl Young of Valley Park. He is the grandson of Marilyn Young and the late Roland Young of Valley Park, and Marie Holmon and the late Bud Holmon of Valley Park.

To start the wedding, the parents walked down the aisle and the mothers lit the family candles.

The bride was then escorted by her father to join her future husband and Harth at the altar.

The lector of the first reading was Derek Gaines of Sherwood, Arkansas, brother of the bride. The lector of the second reading was Sarah Young of Valley Park, sister of the groom. Harth read the gospel and gave a spiritual and heartwarming homily.

Once the vows were recited and the rings blessed and exchanged, Aaron and Sarah lit their unity candle from the fire of the family candles. The intercessions were read by Sarah Young. Flowers from Mary's altar were presented by the bride and groom to their mothers, grandmothers, and godmother. A final blessing was given by Harth and the new Mr. and Mrs. Young were introduced to everyone present at the celebration.

Emily Young of Valley Park, sister of the groom; Sierra Kight of Oran; Renee Kaiser of St. Peters, Missouri; and Jenny Penrose of Malden, Missouri, were personal assistants and wedding coordinators for the bride and groom.

The marriage license was signed by the fathers of the bride and groom. For her something old, Sarah had a gold-colored pin placed on her bouquet that had belonged to her late great-grandmother, Olivia Hinkebein.

The outside reception was held at Greensfelder Memorial Shelter at Creve Coeur Park in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The appetizers and meal were catered by the family business, Young's Restaurant and Ice Creamery in Valley Park. The wedding cupcakes were provided by Sarah's Cake Shop in St. Louis.

Live music filled the air and was provided by The Prestige Band. The emcee was Trey Lewellen. Photography was by Diamond Gal Photography in St. Louis, and video recording by Larry Essner of Benton, Missouri, uncle of the bride.

Sarah graduated in 2005 from Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau. She received a bachelor of science degree in human environmental studies: dietetics in 2009 at Southeast Missouri State University, and a master of science degree in 2011 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She is a nutrition consultant for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Jefferson City.

Aaron graduated in 2004 from St. John Vianney High School in St. Louis. He received a bachelor of science degree in engineering management in 2009 at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He is an operations technician at Calloway Nuclear Power Plant in Fulton, Missouri.

After a wedding trip to St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, the couple are living in Fulton.
