Dr. Anjuli Dahiya and Dr. Rishin Desai were married June 20, 2009, at the Marriott Hotel in Plano, Texas. The rituals of the marriage ceremony were based on a traditional Hindu wedding with a Garbha Ceremony June 19, 2009, and the main wedding June 20.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Jai N. and Leela Dahiya of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Dr. Niranjan and Smita Desai of Scranton, Pa.
A reception was held following the main ceremony.
Mrs. Desai is a 1999 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2004. She received a doctor of medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine in June 2008, and finished a one-year residency in internal medicine in Syracuse, N.Y., June 15, 2009. She is currently in the first year of a three-year residency program in rehabilitation at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
The groom is a graduate of a Waverly, Pa., high school. He received a doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in June 2006. He completed his certificate in periodontology from Eastman Institute of Oral Health at the University of Rochester, N.Y.
The couple is residing in Philadelphia.
