Bess-Scheffer

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Idona Sue Bess and Martin James Scheffer were married Aug. 14, 2004, at the Courthouse Park gazebo in Cape Girardeau. Judge John P. Heisserer, cousin of the groom, performed the ceremony.

The late Dennis and Ruth Ann Bess of Chaffee are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of the late Lawrence and Adella Scheffer of Chaffee.

The bride was presented in marriage by her son, Christopher Brooks of Advance, Mo., and her brother, Dennis Bess of Cape Girardeau.

Matron of honor was Paula Stidham of Chaffee.

Tom Stidham of Chaffee was best man.

Following the ceremony, a dinner reception was held at the Stidham home.

Mrs. Scheffer is a graduate of Chaffee High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She is assistant store manager at Save-A-Lot in Dexter, Mo., and is a real estate broker and investment specialist.

The groom is a graduate of Chaffee High School. He is store manager at Save-A-Lot in Dexter.

The couple is residing in rural Scott County.
