Two CHS students receive National Honors from FBLA

Four CHS students travelled to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA, and two returned with National awards. From left are Josh Sander, Alex Mehner, Josh Greaser and Aaron Mehner. Sander is a 2013 graduate and the others are current seniors.

Sander, a member of the class of 2013, brought home 7th Place in Personal Finance. Mehner received the America Award and is the first CHS student to earn that award.

"I cannot express how proud I am of my students," said Theresa Taylor, CHS business teacher and FBLA adviser. "Joshua studied hard to be successful in this contest." He is pursuing the study of economics in college. "Aaron worked most of 10 months to receive the America Award. It required a huge amount of hard work and dedication on his part," Ms. Taylor concluded.

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL), the largest and oldest student business organization, held its National Leadership Conference at the Hilton Anaheim, June 27-30. Conference participants from around the country and the world competed in over 50 different events. The association has a quarter-million members and advisers in 12,000 chartered middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide. Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The Missouri Chapter of FBLA is the second largest in the country with over 15,400 members.
