An Open Letter to the City of Cape Girardeau,

What began as a dream came to fruition this past Saturday as Cape PRIDE Inc. brought the Inaugural Cape PRIDE Festival to life in the heart of this amazing city. On May the 4th, an estimated 2,000 people gathered in Capaha Park to celebrate beauty, individuality, uniqueness and community at Cape PRIDE 2019. The festival was the culmination of almost an entire year’s worth of work and collaboration on the part of the Board of Cape PRIDE Inc. as well as dozens of sponsors, volunteers, community partners, supporters, vendors and entertainers. We are proud to have provided this community with a fun, family-friendly, inclusive festival that welcomed people from all walks of life, all parts of the LGBTQ+ spectrum including Allies and the entire Southeast Missouri region. We could not have done this without the love and support of the Cape Girardeau community! As we look forward to the future of Cape PRIDE Inc. we are deeply humbled and amazingly grateful to each and every person who attended this year’s FIRST EVER LGBTQ+ PRIDE FESTIVAL in this beautiful city! We will continue to work to do our part to support this community and to continue building a legacy of acceptance and inclusion in the city we LOVE.
