November 10 & 11 The Mississippi River Hills Wine Trail will be holding its premier Wine Trail Event - Taste of the Holidays. Six family owned and operated wineries in Perry County and Cape County came together to form the states newest wine trail. The Barrens winery in Perryville, Hemman Winery in Brazeau, Tower Rock Vineyard and Winery in Altenburg, Apple Creek Vineyard and Winery in Friedheim - the areas newest winery to open that weekend, Rothbrick Winery in Shawneetown, and Hunter Valley Winery in Cape Girardeau are the wineries on the trail. With the purchase of a ticket to the event you will be served a holiday food paired with a featured wine at each of the six wineries and you will receive a souvenir wine glass. If you travel to all six wineries on the trail during the two day event, you will be put in a drawing for several prizes. First prize a night stay at a local B&B or cabin with spending money, second prize a gift basket and third prize a wine duffle. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 day of, and $15 for designated driver. Must be 21 to participate. The wineries will all be decorated for the holiday season and full of Holiday Cheer. The event runs 12p-5pm each day.
