ST. MARY CATHEDRAL SCHOOL AWARDS 2010 DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE TO SISTER RITA SCHONOHOFF
St. Mary Cathedral School in Cape Girardeau, MO recently honored Sister Rita Schonhoff as their 2010 NCEA Distinguished Graduate during Catholic Schools Week celebrated January 30th through February 5th, 2010. Sister Schonhoff is a 1952 graduate of St. Mary Cathedral School and a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She received a B.A. from Notre Dame College in South Bend, IN and her L.P.N. from the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational School of Practical Nursing. Sr. Rita is a School Sister of Notre Dame and has lived her life in service to others. She has been a catholic school teacher, spiritual development coordinator and retreat director, director of religious education, parish nurse and volunteered in clinics and retirement centers in the U.S. and Central America. She is currently Executive Director of Whole Health Outreach - an organization she founded in 1989 in Ellington, MO to aid the economically disadvantaged of that area. The 2010 Distinguished Graduate award was presented to Sr. Rita at an all-school assembly held February 1, 2010. Friends, relatives, classmates of Sr. Rita and parents were invited to join the students, faculty and staff of St. Mary Cathedral School and a reception followed the presentation.
