Prom Season is finishing up and the local chapter of Becca’s Closet (Semo Prom Mothers of Cape Presbyterian Churches) is closing shop for the summer. Attached is a list of how far the girls traveled this year for a free semi-formal or formal dress for their special school sponsored event.
After starting the chapter in Jackson at the First Presbyterian Church in the school year of 2016-2017, our annual numbers continue to grow. In 2020-2201 during the height of Covid, Semo Prom Mothers moved to a larger building at Westminster Presbyterian in Cape. It has become a joint mission project with volunteers now coming from both Cape Presbyterian Churches. This year, we closed out with 198 girls coming in and we reached a total of 943 girls in 6 years.
Already in the works for next year, some lucky girl will be the 1000th teen to receive a dress and we want to celebrate that fact when she enters the door!
We would also like to thank Cape Noon Optimist Club for helping to support our mission!
