Saint Francis Medical Center and the Heart to Heart Committee are excited to present Zonya Foco, RD, CHFI, CSP, "America's nutrition leader," as the keynote speaker at the seventh annual Heart to Heart Luncheon on Friday, April 4. The event, which will feature exhibits and screenings prior to the keynote presentation, starts at 10:30 am at Drury Lodge, 104 S. Vantage Drive.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, causing one in three deaths each year, according to the American Heart Association®.
Ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. The Heart to Heart Luncheon, hosted by Saint Francis Medical Center and supported by committee members from the community, is an annual event committed to raising awareness of women's unique risk factors for heart disease and is a great forum for learning how to better care for your heart. The luncheon is just one of Saint Francis' efforts to increase awareness of heart disease prevention and treatment in Southeast Missouri.
As an author, TV host and national speaker, Foco is leading America in the fight against obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease through smart nutrition and fitness. She is the champion of the diet-downtrodden, a coach to the nutritionally challenged and a crusader with a common-sense approach to healthy eating. Leading with her mantra, "The Power of One Good Habit," Foco is teaching families across the country the hard facts of good nutrition, and showing them how to turn knowing into doing by mastering one core habit that can turn the life they have into the life they want.
This will be the second Heart to Heart Luncheon for Foco. She motivated the audience with her humor and knowledge at the 2009 luncheon, and is looking forward to another inspiring event this year. Scheduled to speak at last year's luncheon, inclement weather kept her away.
Tickets for the Heart to Heart Luncheon are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and include the keynote presentation, cardiovascular health information, door prizes and a delicious heart-healthy meal. Sponsored tables are $250 and included reserved seating for eight and recognition in the event program. Tickets can be purchased online at www.sfmc.net/hearttoheart or at the Fitness Plus Service Desk at 150 S. Mount Auburn Road, Entrance 8. Doors open at 10:30 am Friday, April 4, at Drury Lodge, with educational exhibits and free health screenings. The luncheon and keynote presentation begin at noon.
