Questions are being raised about a controversial trial lawyer fundraiser in Canada that benefited Robin "Rubberstamp" Carnahan's campaign. The special interest fundraiser in Canada has called into question the hypocrisy of Carnahan's claim that she wants to "crack down" on special interests.

"Rubberstamp Robin Carnahan has already taken more than $500,000 from liberal trial lawyer special interests in her campaign," said Roy Blunt's campaign chairman Ann Wagner. "Missourians want to know how much money Robin Carnahan collected at the fundraiser in Canada, what issues she has discussed with these liberal trial lawyers, what promises she has made to these trial lawyers and what votes she has committed to casting for these trial lawyers."

News reports revealed that Harry Reid and other liberal Democrat U.S. Senate candidates traveled to Canada this weekend to raise money from trial lawyers. Rubberstamp Robin Carnahan was listed as one of the recipients of the trial lawyer funds.

"Robin Carnahan claims to want to 'crack down' on special interests while she takes more than $500,000 from trial lawyer special interests," said Wagner. "These liberal special interests know Robin Carnahan will keep health care costs high and keep hurting small business job creators by opposing medical liability reform."

A new study released last week by the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform again demonstrated the need for liability reform to reduce health care costs and help small businesses create jobs. The study showed that small businesses -- which have created 64 percent of all net new jobs in the United States over the past 15 years -- are significantly impacted by the nation's liability costs.
