There is nothing that looks or feels better around your neck after a long, hard day than a golden wiffleball. The River Monsters know this sensation all to well. For another year they will be able to display their recent accomplishment of winning the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest 6. This is the second year in a row that they have won the event.
The River Monsters defeated the Naturals in the finals of the double elmination tournament with a pair of victories (7-3, 8-2) to capture the championship. The River Monsters finished the 13 team tournament with a (5-1) record, with their only blemish coming on a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to team Kryptonite. As if winning another championship wasn't enough, team member and Wifflefest 5 hero Violet Owen was inducted into the Justin Osborne All American Wifflefest Hall of Fame for being the first female to hit a home run at Wifflefest. Jordan Duncan, part time player for the Unfortunates, was also inducted into the Wifflefest HOF for competing in the tournament while dressed in full costume as Pokey, Gumby's horse. The event was sponsored by Osborne Office Equipment, KOHL's of Cape Girardeau, and Canedy Sign and Graphics with participants raising a total of $1200 for the Pujols Family Foundation.
