The River Heritage Guild hosted it ninth Quilts of Valor Ceremony November 14 at LaCroix Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. Ten veterans were honored with quilts made by 10 of the guild members. A Quilt of Valor is handmade and follows specific guidelines found at the quilt of valor foundation website, www.qovf.org. Its mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. This presentation is one way we can convey our sincere gratitude for their service, sacrifice and valor to the United States of America and to each of us. Freedom is not free. The cost of our freedom is the dedication of our service members and veterans. We honor their service.
This is a nationwide effort in which over 326,777 quilts have been presented since its beginning in 2003.
