Children from ages four through 18 are invited to work on their painting and drawing skills with the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department this summer. Painting and drawing classes run throughout the summer, and are open for registration now. See the list below for age groups, dates and deadlines.
Painting Classes
Wee Ones Finger Painting (Ages 4-6)
Little ones can come and use their fingers to create masterpieces! Artists will be painting a variety of different objects like fish, trees, and birds. Each painter should come to class prepared to get messy! All finger painting classes are at the 4-H Exhibit Hall. Register by June 15.
Course Dates: Tuesday, June 19 at 10 a.m.; Tuesday June 19 at 5:30 p.m.
$10 Residents, $13 Non-residents
Painting for ages 4-5
Each child will experiment with shaving paint and work their way up to finger paint. Children will take a collage of their paintings home at the end of the class. Each painter should come to class prepared to get messy! Register by May 30.

Painting for ages 6-12; Two sessions available
This is an instructional class for beginning painters. Participants will be taught how to draw and paint still-life designs. All supplies will be provided; classes are at the 4-H Exhibit Hall.

Ages 6-8: Monday and Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Ages 9-12: Monday and Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Drawing Classes
Drawing for ages 6-12; Two sessions available
Step-by-step instruction will teach children fundamental drawing techniques and will help develop skills to express creativity. Topics include animals, landscapes and still lives. All classes are at the 4-H Exhibit Hall.
