"Participants are encouraged to bring their own canoe or kayak or they can call to reserve one of ours," said Jacobs. "Those who need it can receive basic instructions and water safety training prior to the trip."

Jacobs said this event will help people to discover nature and celebrate Missouri's great outdoor opportunities.

This canoe trip is open to participants ages 16 and up and registration is required. For more information on this and other events at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, call 573-290-5218 or go online to www.mdc.mo.gov.
