Ozark Author Laura Valenti to Present Program at Heartland Writers Guild
The Heartland Writers Guild will meet Sunday, September 20 from 2-4 pm. at the Steck House 210 Washington St. Jackson, Missouri. Guest speaker, Laura Valenti, from Lebanon, Missouri will share her writing adventure.
Ms. Valenti's first book was a nonfiction work titled: The Fifteen Most Asked Questions About Adoption published in 1989, paving the way to appearances on CNN, a world-wide radio show, and a national adoption activist award.
Valenti changed her focus from nonfiction to fiction in her later work. A job at the local sheriff's department became the catalyst for a two novels: Between the star and the Cross: The Choice and Between the Star and the Cross: The Election. A third novel for this series is in the works.
Valenti is widely known for her historical series: The Heart of the Spring based on the history of Bennett Spring State park, Missouri's first state park. The four book series follows the story of the same family over many generations from the 1920's through the tumultuous sixties, with one more book planned for that series.
Book writing is not the only facet of Ms. Valenti's talent. She writes features for newspapers and magazines. She is a regular contributor to Ozarks Farm & Neighbor, a farming newspaper covering 18 counties in southwest Missouri.
This is a great opportunity to learn from a successful writer. Ms. Valenti will have a variety of her books available to purchase.
