The Board of Trustees of Old McKendree Chapel will host the annual Old McKendree Day Sunday, Sept.25, at 3 p.m. Retired minister and author, the Rev. Lyle Johnston, will be guest speaker and music for the afternoon will be provided by the local group, "Barefoot on Sunday." Attendees are invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon.
Old McKendree Chapel is the oldest Methodist Church west of the Mississippi River. It was built in 1819 and stands in a grove of old oak and maple trees just off Bainbridge Road. It is about three miles from Jackson and eight miles from Cape Girardeau.
The Board of Trustees will hold their fall meeting directly following the service.
