Oak Ridge School Board

Do you currently hold the office for which you are running? No

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

Determination and accessibility. I will actively seek input from parents and staff, persistently seek a solution to their concerns, and follow through to a favorable conclusion. Additionally, I intend to pursue full transparency and accountability for our School Board. Each memberÂ’s vote directly impacts our childrenÂ’s educational experience and in the long run, their future.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge facing your school district?

Our school should do more to ease the transition from graduation to adulthood. Counselors can help our students discover their academic strengths and aid in discovering complimentary professions, colleges, or vocational schools. Likewise, most families would benefit from improved guidance in the selection of which school to attend and determining how to finance it. Partnerships between counselors, parents, and students is instrumental for a smooth transition into their next phase of life.

If elected, do you have any plans for improving the school district?

We have begun to expand technology but we continue to lag behind other area schools. Additionally, we must support our teachersÂ’ continuing education, institute greater accountability for the entire faculty, demand transparency of the School Board members and strive for a 100% graduation rate. Finally, the community MUST be given a stronger voice in the boardÂ’s decision making process.
