CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Eric Richardet, of Perryville, was recently promoted from the rank of staff sergeant to sergeant first class in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Richardet has been with the National Guard for 14 years. He is a combat engineer with Headquarters Company, 1140th Engineer Battalion in Cape Girardeau.
"It's an honor," said Richardet. "I've worked very hard and I look forward to fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of my new rank. It's great to be recognized."
Capt. Juan Valencia, Richardet's unit commander, said he's very proud of Richardet.
"The unit and I are very proud of Sgt. 1st Class Richardet's accomplishments," said Valencia. "This rank is an important milestone for any Soldier and I know he will be able to take on the new challenges. As he continues to grow in experience and wisdom, I have full confidence he will share as much as possible with his peers and subordinates and continue to make this unit stronger."
Valencia was also grateful to Richardet's wife Alyssa for supporting her husband.
"I'd like to thank her for all her sacrifices and dedication to her husband as he unselfishly serves," said Valencia. "Alyssa is a part of our team and unit."
Richardet is supported in his military career by his wife Alyssa, their children Kaylee, Alayna, and Madyson and his parents Roy Richardet and Deborah Hotop, both of Perryville.
