Twelve-year-old Benjamin Krewson with St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson, Missouri was among thousands of National Junior Beta Club members who attended the annual National Junior Beta Club Convention in Mobile, Alabama from June 15-18.
Ben had won first place in the Spelling Contest at the state convention held in Poplar Bluff, Missouri in December, 2012 which qualified him to compete at the National convention. Benjamin won 2nd place out of 29 competitors from as many as 14 different states.
Ben will be an eighth grader at St. Paul Lutheran in Jackson in the fall. His parents are Shirlene Hecht of Altenburg, MO and James Krewson of Columbia, MO.
St. Paul Lutheran School, has been an agency of St. Paul Lutheran congregation for over 100 years. It serves as an avenue of outreach to non-Lutherans in the Jackson area who desire a Christian education for their children. Guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, St. Paul Lutheran School offers training in God's Word integrated with a quality education for children in grades K - 8. St. Paul Lutheran has had a Junior Beta Chapter for 2 years.
The National Beta Club is the nation's largest independent youth organization. Since its beginnings in 1934, The National Beta Club has been committed to providing students with a positive experience in a supportive manner with their peers in grades 5-12. The organization recognizes academic achievement, encourages service to others, and promotes the development of good character and leadership skills. The Junior Beta organization holds state conventions in 14 states.
