Local blogger, Matt Gordon, will release a collection of humorous essays in his debut volume, "The Monkeys of God." To commemorate the release, The West Bank Bistro will be hosting a book launch party on Friday, April 5th. Gordon will be selling and signing copies from 5:00 -- 8:00 P.M.

In Gordon's inaugural work, the blurb reads, "In a helter-skelter world, it is nice to have a soothing voice. In this offbeat collection of clever, concise humor pieces, Matt Gordon provides an easy-going antidote to the hectic pace of life. 'The Monkeys of God' will challenge readers to slow down, to look around, and mostly, to laugh."

Gordon, a Jackson native, has been an avid writer from the time he could hold a pencil. After pursuing a degree in English from Hannibal-LaGrange University, Gordon continued to steadily add to his repertoire by posting works to his blog aptly named "The Matt Gordon: A Place for Words."

After gaining an online following, Gordon decided it was time to pursue publishing a collection of his works. Since childhood, Gordon dreamt of publishing a book before turning 30; as his 30th birthday approaches in the fall, his first book is a timely achievement.

"The Monkeys of God" officially releases on April 1, 2013. The April Fools' Day launch is a suitable choice considering the humorous nature of the work.

"The Monkeys of God" will be for sale on Amazon (www.amazon.com ). For more information about Matt Gordon, please visit his website: http://www.themattgordon.com

The West Bank Bistro is located at 340 N Lorimier Street, Cape Girardeau.
