Leaf Collection in Cape Girardeau Starts Nov. 7 in Zone A which is west of Kingshighway.
With leaves falling from the trees, it's time for the city of Cape Girardeau's annual leaf collection program. Residents have four options to dispose of leaves:
1. Curbside Loose Leaf Pick Up Program -- Residents rake loose leaves to their curb prior to a designated start date for their "zone" (map). Public Works crews will then come and vacuum up the leaves according to a timeline per zone. The curbside leaf program begins Nov. 7 and runs through Dec. 20.
2. Haul Your Leaves -- Haul your own leaves for free to the holding area on Third Street, off of LaCruz Street, across from Kasten Masonry. Hours: Mondays through Fridays, 12-4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., from Oct. 31-Dec. 23.
3. Compost Bags -- Purchase compost bags from City Hall, Public Works, Schnuck's, or Food Giant. Price is $6.25 for a bundle of 5. Call Public Works at 573-339-6351 to arrange a Wednesday pick up.
4. Mulching -- Mulch your leaves back in to your lawn, adding nutrients and improving lawn health.
