Kelsey Fellows recently won the first Jackson Kiwanis Club "READ Essay Contest" offered to the A+ students from Jackson High School who tutored kindergarteners and 1st graders in the READ program. As one of the requirements to qualify for "A+ scholarships," students must complete 50 hours of volunteer work. Kelsey, a recent graduate of Jackson High School, completed that requirement in the READ tutoring program.
Kelsey began her first college classes on May 28 at Southeast Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences where she will major in Radiology Technology. She loves outdoor activities and is currently employed by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Dept. and the Jackson Public School District. She loves riding 4-wheelers and going to the lake. She belongs to La Croix United Methodist Church. Kelsey's family includes parents: Steve and Amy Fellows and David and Carla Lynch, brother, Caleb, and sister, Kia.
The Jackson Kiwanis Club has been a supporter of the READ program since its inception 3 years ago providing both volunteers and financial support. The Jackson Kiwanians are proud to support the essay contest winner with a $50 cash prize. Congratulations, Kelsey.
