Scott Johnston and Joey Hann of Cape Girardeau's Scorpions adventure racing team received silver medals at the Kansas State Games adventure race competition Saturday July 24h near Topeka Kansas. The two finished finished 2nd out of thirty three adventure race teams with a time of two hours and thirty eight minutes, finishing just one minute after the first place team. The event was comprised of six miles of unmarked trail running, three miles of kayaking with open water navigating, and ten miles of technical mountain biking. Johnston and Hann volunteer as mentors with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and dedicated their win to this organization. The two will next compete in the Big Bison adventure race in Memphis Tenessee this September.
