It's among the most prestigious awards in Television and now a Regional EMMY Award belongs to the granddaughter of Marilyn Priest of Jackson.
Erika Kurre is a TV News Anchor and Reporter for Fox 17 News in Nashville and was presented the golden statue during the 30th Annual Midsouth EMMY Award ceremony on behalf of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The winning show is a 30-minute special featuring the Fox 17 News team's photographers and their behind-the-lens perspectives of the stories shown on TV. Kurre wrote and hosted the Magazine Program and accepted her own statue for the work alongside several of the photographers featured in the special program.
Kurre has lived and worked for Fox 17 News in Nashville since 2007. Before that, she worked as an Anchor & Reporter for a CBS station in southeast Alabama. Erika began her career immediately after college graduation at Malone University, then interned at KTVI Fox 2 News in St. Louis before interning with Fox News in Washington, D.C.
This is a first-time EMMY win for Kurre, who has been nominated for several Regional EMMY Awards. She has also been named Best TV News Anchor several times in Tennessee and Alabama by the Associated Press Broadcaster's Association.
She is the daughter of Terry and Paula (Priest) Kurre of Massillon, OH. In her acceptance speech, Kurre thanked her family, including her husband, who helps her balance family life with her career.
