The Jackson Art Group will hold a FREE Plein Air Painting Contest for children and adults from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church grounds and parking lot. This event is in lieu of a Second Saturday featured artist at the neighboring Steck House Gallery, 210 Washington St., where the Jackson Art Group holds monthly meetings on the last Thursday of the month. The Jackson Art Group will hold a FREE Plein Air Painting Contest for children and adults from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church grounds and parking lot. This event is in lieu of a Second Saturday featured artist at the neighboring Steck House Gallery, 210 Washington St., where the Jackson Art Group holds monthly meetings on the last Thursday of the month. The gallery will be open by appointment during the month of October.

Art supplies will be provided for children 0 to 18 years old. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in several youth categories. Artwork must be done on the premises and submitted by 3 pm.

Adults need to bring their own supplies. Paintings must be submitted by 3 pm as well. There will be a first and second place prize for adults.

Sponsored by the Jackson Art Group, the Cash-Book Journal and the St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway. Prizes include Cash-Book Journal subscriptions, train rides and art supplies!
