Members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School Lego Robotics teams participated in a state-qualifier competition on November 18th at St. Charles Community College in St. Louis. Immaculate Conception entered two teams in the competition for students in grades 4th-8th.
Students were graded in three categories: robot design, core values, and presentation. They were interviewed by a panel of judges on all the aspects of the competition. They had to design a website, innovation, and display board, for the presentation aspect of the game. The core values included knowing and demonstrating the values of the game. For the robot design, they had to present their robot and programs to the judges. "It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience," the "Bots" said. "We can't wait to do it next year!"
Although the Eaglebots, the 7th grade team, did not advance to the state competition, they received the award for Gracious Professionalism (sportsmanship) which was a high honor for a first year team. Overall, the students thought it was a fun way to learn about engineering and technology.
