Heritage Dental Group Holds Free Dentistry Day

St. Peters, MO -- 168 St. Peters-area people received free dental services from Heritage Dental Group on Saturday, April 7th as part of their Helping Hands Free Dentistry Day.

Dr. Mary Smith and Dr. Timothy Larson of Heritage Dental Group, along with the help of several other area dentists, provided free oral health care to needy citizens as part of Free Dentistry Day, a program initiated in 2001 to provide dental care to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance.

Dr. Smith, Dr. Larson and their team provided a total of $63,416 worth of dentistry including cleanings, extractions and fillings to local people throughout the day.

"We are very pleased with the success of this event," said Dr. Smith. "Unfortunately, many people do not see a dentist on a routine basis. We were honored to open our doors to those in our community and volunteer our time and resources to make sure they received the care they need and deserve."

One third of Americans are living without dental insurance and current economic conditions leave little room to afford dental procedures. Without events like Free Dentistry Day, dental care simply isn't an option for many uninsured people.

"I can't tell you how proud I am of all the team members who helped coordinate this event and volunteered their Saturday to help," said Dr. Larson. "We had such thankful and happy patients throughout the entire day, and that was the most rewarding thing for all of us. Plus, we had a great time coming together and working as a great team."

In addition, Heritage Dental Group would like to thank the following companies for donating supplies, food and materials: Henry Schein, GPS, Charter Communications, Paul's Donuts on Jungermann, DDS Labs and Chick-fil-a.
