Cape Girardeau--CENET: Cultural Exchange Network will host a summer day camp for area students entering grades 2-8. G.O.A.L.S. Camp will be held at Southeast Missouri State University on July 16-20. On Friday, July 20th, the campers will enjoy a field trip to visit attractions in St. Louis. Last year, campers visited the Missouri History Museum, had lunch in Forest Park, and enjoyed an IMAX movie at the Science Center.
This year, G.O.A.L.S. Camp will run daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The mornings will be dedicated to soccer training at the intramural fields at Southeast Missouri State University. Soccer sessions will be led by a group of skilled coaches from the area and around the world. The international coaches will also use water breaks as opportunities to share about their home countries as well as about the impact soccer has on their region of the world.
The afternoons will offer global education in the Student Recreation Center on the Southeast campus. Students will explore the world through interactive, international workshops.
Previous campers enjoyed activities such as cooking pizza with an Italian, Salsa dancing with Central and South Americans, rolling candy sushi with South Koreans, playing cricket and rugby with an Australian, and much more! This year, CENET will reprise the most popular sessions, as well as add many exciting, new workshops!
As a new feature, the Student Aquatic Center is reserved for the last hour of camp on Monday through Thursday. Interested campers will be able to enjoy time in the pool; alternate supervised activities will also be offered.
A component of CENET's Culture in the Community program, G.O.A.L.S. Camp blends local and international coaches and instructors who provide students with an exciting, cross-cultural experience right here in Cape Girardeau.
