“Girl Scouts Love State Parks” Initiative Aims to Get Every Girl Outside September 12-13

New this year! Girl Scouts can also virtually tour 50 parks in 50 states in partnership with the National Association of State Park Directors.

Embarking on outdoor adventures has always been a part of Girl Scouts’ DNA—that’s why Girl Scouts’ partnership with state parks is a perfect fit! Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland (GSMH) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) have announced their second-annual Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend September 12 through 13 for girls to experience the great outdoors, an integral part of the organization’s all-girl leadership program.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has kept so many of us homebound, as Girl Scouts we’ve found new ways to connect with the great outdoors and one another. This year, girls can see the states parks in a whole new light, and they will have the ability to see parks all around the United States.

Celebrate with us virtually the weekend of September 12 with Girl Scouts all over the country through virtually touring 50 parks in 50 states! Girls can even download and fill a custom virtual passport and keep track of the various state parks they have visited.

Studies show that 71 percent of girl members ages 8–14 tried their first outdoor activity through Girl Scouts and half would not have had access to outdoor activities and programming if not for Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts’ cutting-edge environmental conservation, camping, and outdoor STEM programming is rooted in a passion for adventure and healthy risk-taking combined with taking action to protect the environment for present and future generations.

Girl Scouts wants to get even more girls outside through Girl Scouts Love State Parks. In collaboration with the National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD), Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland will be holding a contest on social media to give away 200 patches. The patches will be first-come, first-serve so be sure to watch our social media platforms for a chance to score a limited-edition patch for free!
