Celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend February 27-March 1

Girl Scout Cookie delivery has begun! If you didn't connect with a Girl Scout to place an order, or just want more, don't worry! From now until March 15, 2015, area Girl Scouts will continue to sell Girl Scout Cookies through direct sales, including door-to-door and at cookie booths outside area merchants.

This February 27 through March 1, Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland, along with its sister councils across the country, will participate in National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, a celebration of all the fun and excitement girls experience selling Girl Scout Cookies.

"The public loves Girl Scout Cookies and those cookies are so much more than a tasty treat. When a girl sells a box of cookies she is learning basic business skills and gaining life skills that are essential to successful leadership," states Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland CEO, Anne Soots.

The direct sale component of the Girl Scout Cookie Program runs February 13-March 15, with eight cookie varieties available: Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Shortbread, Thanks-A-Lot, Lemonades, and Cranberry Citrus Crisps. Cookies are $4 per box, with all proceeds benefitting the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland. For information about the Girl Scout Cookie Program, please visit www.girlscoutcookies.org or call 877-312-4764.

"Booth sales provide a wonderful opportunity for the public to see first-hand the skills girls learn and to help girls polish those skills," says Soots. "Say 'Hello' to the girls, look them in the eye, let them know if you were a Girl Scout, and ask them about their goals and what their plans are for the money they earn. Remember, your purchase of Girl Scout Cookies is helping girls learn skills that will last a lifetime."

One hundred percent of the net revenue raised through the Girl Scout Cookie program stays with Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland and its troops. Customers who purchase Girl Scout Cookies are not only getting a delicious treat--they are making an investment in our community.
