Four Lady Raiders earn academic honors

Four Lady Raiders have been selected to the 2014 Academic All American Team

Taylor Friend and Brittany Hagler of the softball team and Anna Vogt of the basketball team each exceeded a 3.7 GPA and earned the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award.

Whitney Welker of the basketball team earned a 3.95 GPA and received the Superior Academic Achievement Award. Welker is a graduate of Meadow Heights High School in Patton.

Said Coach Jeff Walk of Welker and Vogt, "You could always count on them to be there for you and be there for the team."

This is now the third year in a row a women's basketball player has been selected as an Academic All American. It is the first season under Walk that two players made the team.

Welker is continuing her education at Southeast Missouri State University.
