Film festival is May 3 in Perryville

Film festival to showcase media class films,

raise money for student with cancer

Think of it as the "Sundance of Perryville."

The digital media students at Perryville Area Career and Technology Center invite the community to attend the first Perryville Film Festival on May 3. The event begins at 7 pm at Perry Park Center Theater and will feature documentaries, short film and a sample of commercial work created by the students.

The event will also benefit Haley Fulmer, a third grader at Perryville Elementary School who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Haley is the daughter of Paul and Jennifer Fulmer of Perryville.

Admission is free; a donation can be made to Haley's medical fund.

"My students have created documentaries about subjects that range from the historic sites of Ste. Genevieve to the life of Tommy Twist, to a look at how families and friends develop relationships in the kitchen and through cooking together," said instructor Stan Cook. "We're honored to be able to share our work with the community in this way.

"We're also looking forward to helping Haley."

Katherine Grissom of the digital media class edits her documentary about families and cooking which will be screened during the Perryville Film Festival on May 3. The event will be held at Perry Park Center Theater and will benefit Haley Fulmer, 9, who is battling leukemia.
