The National Republican Congressional Committee issued the following statement:
On Nov. 2, 2009, Democratic congressional candidate Tommy Sowers filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission, triggering a 30 day time window for him to file his Personal Financial Disclosure form with the House of Representative's Committee on Standards of Official Conduct. As of today, which is well past the 30 day window, Sowers's disclosure form is not yet on file. With Sowers in an uphill battle to replace Rep. Joann Emerson, it looks as if he's had to resort to bending and breaking the rules in order to for his struggling campaign to gain traction.
Why won't Tommy Sowers allow his life to be an open book? Find out by calling his campaign at (573) 458-0028.
(For more information about personal financial disclosure form, visit the Committee's website at http://ethics.house.gov/Subjects/List.aspx?subid=6)
Please see the following comment for your consideration, compliments of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC):
"Tommy Sowers doesn't think the rules should apply to him. Sowers says that he knows 'how to win and understands how to successfully accomplish difficult missions.' But apparently Sowers thinks that leading, winning and successfully accomplishing the mission are all more important than following the rules and allowing the his life to be an open book. This incident begs the questions, what else is Tommy Sowers hiding?" -- Tom Erickson, NRCC spokesman
"Tommy knows how to lead, knows how to win and understands how to successfully accomplish difficult missions." ("A proven leader ready to fight for the 8th District" SowersForCongress.Com, accessed Dec. 17, 2009)
