On Saturday, May 16,the Southeast Missouri Arts Council's Festival, ArtsCape, will showcase high school storytellers from Southeast Missouri. "We've had a variety of storytellers each year at ArtsCape, but we decided that these young performers are so outstanding, we wanted to show them off," states Whitlow, ArtsCape Story Chair.

The students, from schools around the region, perform classic and contemporary children's stories throughout the year in invitational tournaments, competing from fall through spring. Many enter the Southeast District Speech tournament, sponsored by the Department of Communication Studies at Southeast Missouri State University---and a few of these talented performers qualify for State competition, often winning awards at "State."
