Cape Girardeau Public School District has received national recognition for a publication and a video. NSPRA (National School Public Relations Association) awarded the district an Award of Merit for its "Celebrating 100 Years" promotional video, and an Honorable Mention for its magazine ad, "You're on our turf now." The national contest was open to all public and private schools and educational service agencies and businesses. More than 700 entries were received and four Missouri organizations were recognized: Clayton, Maplewood, Rockwood and Cape Girardeau Public School Districts. Poyner, Robertson and Oliveira produced the magazine ad which featured a photograph taken by Cheekwood Studio during the first game at Central High School's new Tiger Stadium. The ad appeared in the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce's annual publication, "The Cape." The district also uses the ad in various informational packages. Robertson and McWilson produced the video which tells the success story of Cape Public Schools' first 100 years. It is the second time they have teamed to produce a prize-winning district video. Their first effort in 2009 won an "Award of Excellence"-- the highest award given by MOSPRA (Missouri School Public Relations Association).
