The 6th Grade math team at Cape Middle School finished first in Team Competition at the recent Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Competition for 4 -- 6 graders at Southeast Missouri State University. Pictured above, left to right, are team members Katie Kinder, Levi Strickland, Amy Dai, Brianna Duncan, and Michael Morrison. In the 5th grade Concepts Category, Carson Retter earned 9th place and Zachary Sample took 2nd place. In Problem Solving it was Carson Retter, 3rd Place and Zachary Sample, 2nd Place. 6th Grade Winners in the Concepts category were Katie Kinder, 10th place; Michael Morrison, 5th Place; Amy Dai, 2nd Place. In the Problem Solving category it was 5th Place, Michael Morrison; 1st Place, Amy Dai. Clippard Elementary 4th grader Allison McDonald took 6th place in Concepts. Amu Dai, Carson Retter, and Zachary Sample qualified to compete at the state meet in Springfield. Stephanie Brown and Kimberly Newman are math team sponsors.
