Cape Girardeau Roller Girls Take Win at Home on May 23!

On May 23, CGRG took on the Southern Illinois Roller Girls (SIRG) at home at the A.C. Brase Arena, with a co-ed mash-up immediately following. It was a hard fought battle loaded with bruising hits, strong blocking, and high scoring jams! Assault-n-Pepa scored 23 points during a single jam, and CGRG took home the win 158-87! MVPs were awarded to Assault-N-Pepa (MVP Jammer), Fakin' Bacon (MVP Blocker), and the coveted Fan Favorite went to Meya Wham. Congratulations to all! The mash-up that followed immediately was a treat. The mash-up consisted of co-ed skaters from several area teams. It was an exciting, fast-paced, close game between the White Wolves and the Black Wolves. In the end, the White Wolves came out on top with the win; 139-127!

As a 501c4 organization, proceeds from every home game benefit a local charity. At halftime, a check for $400 was presented to the charity for the May 2 game, Cape Girardeau Park and Rec. A portion of the proceeds from this bout go to the Southeast Missouri Angels Pageant. The S.E. Missouri Angels Pageant is for people of both genders and any age with special needs who wish to enter the pageant. This organization is very important to some of CGRG's very own, including The Wicked Witch of the Midwest. Her daughter, Phoenix, has participated in the S.E. Missouri Angel's Pageant several times and looks forward to it each year! Donations and sponsorships allow the participants to enter for free, so every Angel can be crowned with their own title.
