The Cape Girardeau County 4-H Shooting Sports Program hosted its first invitational contest on August 9th at Apple Creek Conservation range. The contest was attended by 40 4-Hers from Cape, Scott, Perry and St. Genevieve counties. Members competed in the following disciplines: archery, BB Gun, Air Rifle, .22 Rifle and Shotgun. The contest was held in order to prepare members to compete at the State contest, which will be held August 16th at Linn Creek, Mo and also on September 20th at Columbia, MO. Sponsors for the Cape County Program are: Wal Mart, the National Rifle Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation and Jon Lufcy of the Sportsman Shop in Kelso. For information about joining 4-H and enrolling in the Shooting Sports program, call the Extension Office at 243-3581.
