Scholars, coaches, parents and administrators had reason to celebrate after the recent JV Scholar Bowl competition held at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau. In the photo above, Cape Central teammates pose with the championship plaque earned in competition with Notre Dame, Saxony Lutheran, Poplar Bluff, Jackson, Desoto, Jefferson, Perryville, and Fredericktown High Schools. In the front row, left to right, are Mallory Dickson, Penny Robinson, Emily Weisenberger and Vikas Rudrappa. Back row: Blaine Gotto (coach), Andy Tilmon (coach), Joshua Sander, Cape Central Principal Dr. Mike Cowan and Joy Mueller. Joshua Sander and Penny Robinson both earned special recognition as two of eight top scorers for the day. Joshua averaged 13.2 questions per game and Penny averaged 3 questions per game. Scholar Bowl is a team activity, similar to band and athletics.
