Three Jackson R2 Employees recently competed in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday April 18th, 2011. To be able to compete in this marathon, which is a distance of 26.2 miles, runners have to obtain a qualifying time at the same distance at another marathon. The qualifying time is dependant on their age and gender. Julie Wunderlich finished in 3:28:22, a Personal Record (PR). She is the Health Teacher at R.O Hawkins Junior High and Co-head Girls Varsity Soccer coach. Joyce McIntosh finished in 3:52:55. She is the School Nurse at Orchard Elementary and Wellness Coordinator for the district. Paul Fliege finished in 3:16:52. He is a Band teacher at the Junior High and High School. All three runners, with these times, qualified for next year's Boston Marathon.
